UIW to present lecture by author Devery S. Anderson

SAN ANTONIO • The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is presenting a public lecture by author and scholar Devery S. Anderson, author of Emmett Till: The Murder that Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement. The lecture is set for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the UIW Concert Hall at 4301 Broadway.
The book, published in 2015 by the University of Mississippi Press, is the definitive account of the 1955 lynching of an African- American boy and its aftermath. The acquittal of the killers of 14 year old Emmett Till by an all-white jury set off a firestorm of protests that reverberated all over the world and spurred on the civil rights movement.

The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the UIW College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at (210) 829-3976.
