Catholic Charities celebrates two new executive directors of St. PJ’s Children’s Home, Seton Home

Catholic Charities has announced new executive director leadership for St. PJ’s Children’s Home and Seton Home, respectively. Gladys Gonzalez has been named to lead St. PJ’s, and Thelma Gutierrez will guide Seton Home.

A reception welcoming the duo was held at The Studio at The Pearl on June 15. J. Antonio Fernandez, president/CEO of Catholic Charities, gave opening remarks, and the new executive directors were given a blessing by Father David Garcia, director of the Old Spanish Missions.

A San Antonio native, Gonzalez joined Catholic Charities as the director of the Guadalupe Community Center in 2013, and later served as vice president of Programs. Gonzalez previously worked at USAA for 19 years and directed a Career Transitional Program before she transferred her skills to the non-profit arena.

A native of Floresville, Gutierrez served in the United States Army, eventually settling in San Antonio, where she began a 17 year career in human services. She joined the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS) in 2001 as an investigator and investigations supervisor. She then joined BCFS Health and Human Services in 2009.

Gutierrez joined Seton Home in May and will lead a staff that have worked to become subject matter experts in “Trauma Informed Care and implementing the Residential and Child Youth Care Professional certification program.”
