Capital Campaign moves to public phase

Archbishop Gustavo will hold a press conference next Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the San Fernando Cathedral to announce the public launch of the On the Way — ¡Ándale! Capital Campaign. The press conference will be preceded by a celebration of Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours lexd by the archbishop. Everyone in the archdiocese is invited to attend the prayer service and press conference to celebrate the early progress of the capital campaign. The press conference will highlight the fact that several parishes in the archdiocese, comprising the pilot wave, are already engaged in the capital campaign with hundreds of parish volunteers visiting fellow parishioners about making a pledge. So far, the capital campaign has raised nearly $18 million, or 30 percent of the goal. Archbishop Gustavo will celebrate this great early start to the effort at the press conference, present the projects of the campaign, and encourage all the faithful in the archdiocese to make a pledge, no matter how great or small.

“While it is true that we measure the success of the On the Way — ¡Ándale! Capital Campaign in dollars raised,” the archbishop noted, “it is even more true to say that this capital campaign will be a success if it generates a renewed fervency of faith, a recommitment on our part to extend our outreach to those in need, and to steward to future generations the saving gospel of Jesus just as it has been handed on to us by the sacrificial generosity of our brothers and sisters over the past 300 years.”
